Mark is Co-Founder and Executive Director of The Sprouts Foundation, a Hong Kong-based non-profit that aims to break inter-generational poverty through education. In its 11 years of operation, Sprouts has worked with over 6,000 students and their families on a range of language, professional skill and experiential learning programs.
Prior to starting Sprouts, Mark spent twenty years in the global finance industry, the majority with Morgan Stanley in Hong Kong, Singapore, New York and Toronto. While at the firm, he was a Managing Director and Head of Global Telecom Research, where from 1999-2005, Mark and his team ranked #1 in Institutional Investor and/or Greenwich Associates surveys of international fund managers.
Mark later spent several years as a strategic advisor to News Corporation and CA Media, the Asian venture capital arm of the Los Angeles-based Chernin Group. His projects ranged from broadcast television in China to direct-to-home satellite services and children’s animation content in India, along with regional sports and music production companies as well as streaming video providers.
Since 2018, and reflecting his Ukrainian background, Mark has taught an annual Corporate Finance module to EMBA students at Lviv Business School, part of the Ukrainian Catholic University and near his grandparents’ hometowns.
He graduated with Distinction from Ivey Business School, where his studies included an exchange to Bocconi University in Milan, Italy. He speaks Ukrainian, Italian, French and basic Spanish and German, and is an avid ultra-marathon runner.
Mark remains based in Hong Kong with his wife, a global fund manager, while their two children are at university overseas.
