Pat Cronin was appointed Chief Risk Officer, BMO Financial Group, in November 2018.
In this role, he is responsible for providing independent review and oversight of enterprise-wide risks and leadership on risk issues, developing and maintaining a risk management framework and fostering a strong risk culture across the enterprise.
Most recently, Pat was CEO & Group Head of BMO Capital Markets, responsible for BMO Financial Group’s interactions with corporate, government and institutional clients.
Previously, Pat was President & Chief Operating Officer of BMO Capital Markets where he had first line oversight of all balance sheet and risk management activity, international operations, and regulatory and compliance functions.
Since he joined BMO in 1993, Pat has held important leadership roles in BMO Capital Markets, including Head, Trading Products, where he had responsibility for the Sales, Trading, Research and Structuring groups in Equity Products, Debt Products, Foreign Exchange, Derivative Products and Securitization.
Pat has been an active member of BMO Financial Group’s Enterprise Risk Management Committee since 2014, Operating Committee since 2015, and Executive Committee since 2016.
Pat currently serves on the Board of Canadian Derivatives Clearing Corporation and Canadian Depository For Securities Limited and the Ivey Advisory Board, and is a Campaign Cabinet member of the SickKids Foundation. He holds an MBA from the Ivey School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto.
