The Ivey Academy to launch first-of-its-kind coaching certification in North America

LONDON - (September 18, 2018) – The Ivey Academy at Ivey Business school is pleased to announce the launch of North America’s first advanced-level coaching certification program for experienced executive coaches, rooted in university-based business education. The Ivey LIFT (Leadership Insights for Transformation) Coaching Certification Program will develop coaches who lift performance in a world where leaders need to transform themselves more quickly and respond more skillfully than ever before. 

The LIFT program accelerates a coach’s professional and personal development by combining leading edge research and practice, interaction with professors and expert practitioners from Canada’s leading business school, and dialogue with like-minded professionals who can challenge each other and grow together. 

“As part of The Ivey Academy’s strategy to provide a broader range of development offerings to top-tier Canadian executives, the Ivey LIFT Advanced Coaching Certification Program is designed specifically to address the need for new skills, approaches, and processes for experienced coaches in today’s rapidly changing business environment,” said Mark Vandenbosch, Acting Dean, Ivey Business School. 

“This coaching certification is the first of its kind in Canada – an advanced coaching program rooted in university-based business education. These coaches will be recognized as the most effective and skilled business coaches in Canada, and some of the best in the world,” added Vandenbosch. 

The program’s unique, transformational year-long journey includes six pillars: 

1. Four weekend-long training modules with world class thought leaders in human dynamics and business performance
2. Participatory emergent design with deeply experienced peers
3. Exposure to – and practice with – a variety of assessments
4. Hands-on and reflective experiential learning through all four modules
5. Action learning through co-coaching senior executives
6. Readings, assignments, and virtual interaction between modules

The LIFT program will develop a robust community of transformational coaches who support a stronger, more resilient, more sustainable business landscape in Canada. Ivey-certified coaches will contribute as professional partners in The Ivey Academy’s executive education programs and Ivey’s degree programs, in addition to their work with Canadian business executives. Ivey Academy coaches can be dropped into any team, organization, or situation and elevate performance.

The first module of the four-module Ivey LIFT Advanced Coaching Certification begins November 16, 2018.
