Where are you from? What high school did you attend?

Mississauga, St. Joan of Arc Catholic Secondary School.

What was your Program of Student for Years 1 and 2?

Computer Science (dual degree).

List your Extra-curricular involvement in the first two years of university.

Western Management Consulting, Habitat for Humanity, Western One Health, STEM Fellowship.

Why did you choose Ivey’s HBA program?

The Ivey network is unmatched - from your 75 section mates in HBA1 that become like your family to the alumni who are always happy to chat with current HBA students as you explore different career paths. This is the main factor that drew me into the program and since entering it, everything I’ve heard about the Ivey network has only been confirmed.

Describe one highlight of your Ivey Experience thus far.

One highlight was organizing a trip for the inbound exchange students to see a Toronto Raptors game! It was a great way to introduce them to a culturally Canadian event, and I was able to form connections with students from all over the world during the trip itself.

What advice do you have for incoming HBA students?

There’s so much more to Ivey than what goes on in the classroom! Get involved in the many extra-curricular opportunities available - whether this is serving as an exec in a club or the HBAA, or taking part in one of Ivey’s special classroom opportunities (i.e. exchange, Africa Service Learning Course, etc…). I’ve met so many of my closest friends and made my best memories at Ivey through these activities and I highly recommend getting involved in whatever capacity you can.

How has Ivey’s Career Management team set you up for success?

Ivey’s Career Management is a one-stop shop for any career-related help you need. I’ve reached out to them to help me prepare for coffee chats, interviews, and to review my resume for various job applications. They also do an amazing job at inviting popular firms to Ivey for networking events, helping me form connections with companies I may be interested in working at.

What kind of support did you find the most helpful with the intense curriculum in HBA1?

Every HBA1 is assigned an HBA2 mentor called an “OWL” who has just gone through the exact same HBA1 experience the previous year. I found myself able to reach out to my OWL for almost any course-related advice and they provided tons of help in helping me review class material and connecting me to outside resources such as tutors and extra practice exams.

What has been the most challenging part of the program for you and how did you overcome it?

Dealing with imposter syndrome. During my first few weeks of HBA1 I realized everyone around me was a “top student” – they were all extremely smart and accomplished outside of the classroom. This was challenging as I found myself questioning whether I belonged in the program. However, I quickly felt the benefits of being in an environment full of strong, motivated classmates and really saw my section become my family by the end of the year.

How has Ivey helped you become a leader and make an impact on the world around you?

Like I mentioned earlier, there are so many opportunities to get involved in the Ivey community outside of the classroom. I’ve served as a Co-Chair for the Scotiabank International Case Competition – an annual week-long event that invites students from all over the world (i.e. Spain, Peru, Hong Kong, etc…) to Ivey for a week – and as an Exchange Director on the HBAA, where I’ve organized various trips and socials for current exchange students. Ivey has opened the doors for me to become a leader and make an impact through these roles; they directly gave me a chance to sharpen my leadership skills and to organize events that impact not only the Ivey community itself, but also the students from all over the world that take part in these.

What are your plans for after graduation?

I’m entering a rotational marketing program at TELUS! I’m grateful for the opportunity to explore different areas of marketing within the company before settling into a specific team.
