Manage Content on the Web

Ivey Business School uses a content management system named Umbraco to manage it's web properties.

Anatomy of a Web Page

Each web page utilizes a similar structure. In this chapter, we review the three main parts of a web page - header, main content, and footer. Learn how each section functions, what editors are able to change or control within each section, and other best practices.

Page Types

There are five types of pages that an editor may encounter on the Ivey website.

  1. Basic Page Type

  3. Events
  4. News and Blogs
  5. Courses and Cases

Banners

There are five types of banners that an editor may include on their web page.

  1. Image Banner
  2. Map Banner
  3. News Banner
  4. Promo Block
  5. Video Banner

Content Types

There are six types of content that an editor may include on their web page.

  1. Text
  2. Image
  3. Video
  4. Button
  5. Call to Action
  6. Testimonial

In addition to the above, there are special types of content called Page Assets that require help from the Digital Services team to build.

  1. Accordion Menu
  2. Tab Menu
  3. Gallery
  4. Map
  5. News and Events Listing
  6. Testimonial Slider
  7. Timeline
  8. Countdown Timer
  9. Youtube Playlist
  10. Instagram Feed
  11. Twitter Feed

Full Width Content

In addition to the Page Assets above, there are three types of content that may be added to a page that will span the full width of the page. These content types support background colours to help you colour block sections of a page.

  1. Text Block
  2. Multi-Column Asset Block
  3. Multi-Column Content Block
