Image Banners fill the full width of the page with a background image and text.

They have a title, subtitle, and supporting content (all optional). You can customize the location and alignment of the text to fit your needs. The text and background image will scale down on smaller devices as appropriate.

The Image Banner replaces the Title Bar section of the Header.

Customizations for Image Banner

Only the Image and Alternate Text fields are required for an image banner.

Content Tab

Images must be high quality (at least 2280 x 712). Please contact us at web@ivey.ca for help with selecting, editing, and resizing images for banners.

Images are stored in the Media section of Umbraco, and may be uploaded as a JPG, PNG, or GIF. For Image Banners, please use only the JPG format for your images as it is the best option for large and complex imagery.

  • Alternate Text: Alternate text is used by screen readers to describe an image, and is required to make our site accessible.
  • Title: The title of the banner will be an H1 tag, and should be the title for the entire page.
  • Subtitle: Subtitles are used as a secondary support for the title.
  • Content: Content will be slightly larger than our paragraph font, and allows editors to include additional text inside the banner.

Advanced Tab

  • Text Background Colour: You may select an approved colour as a background for the title, subtitle, and content. This is intended for cases where the banner image is especially complex and hard to read the text on top.
  • Text Drop Shadow: Option to place a drop shadow behind the text, to make easier to read.
  • Text Offset (Top and Left): These toggles will move the text up, down, left, and right within the banner.
  • Darken Image: If your banner image is too bright or hard to read the text, you can darken the image to make the text stand out more.
