News and Blogs

News articles and blog posts throughout the school are published as part of what we call a News Subsite System.

The News Subsite System has two main parts:

  1. News Listing
  2. News Post

Editors have permission to create, edit, or delete news posts but new News Subsite Systems must be set up by an Administrator.

You may request an News Subsite System from Digital Services by emailing us at web@ivey.ca.

News Listing

The News Listing page displays all posts in chronological order, from newest to oldest.

There are two styles of listings.

News List

This is the default option and is used on almost all Ivey websites.

News posts are listed chronologically from newest to oldest, with the first ten posts appearing on the first page, and all remaining posts appearing on subsequent pages accessible through navigation at the bottom.

News Grid

The News Grid is a good option for websites that have news posts that are categorized into different topics. This is currently in use on the main Ivey news website, and on the Alumni Intouch site.

News Post

The News Post is the article or blog post itself. It is a streamlined version of our basic content page, intended to put the content front and centre.

On the left side are social share icons, and on the right side is an (optional) sidebar which may be populated with calls to action or other special features.

In the middle is where the article lives. It starts with the title of the article or news post, followed by the author and date,  an optional image or video, and then the main content.

  • Title: The title of the news article or blog post.
  • Date: The date of publication. This may be in the future. The post will not show until that date and time are reached.
  • Author: The author of the post.
  • Image: We highly recommend all News Posts have an image, although it is optional.
    • Note: This is called "Article Image" on the main News site.
  • Banner Image: You may upload an alternate image for use in the News Banner, if this News Post is selected.
  • Show Author Bio: This is only available on the main News site. It will show the author's biography at the bottom of the News Post.

  • Show Excerpt in Article: This shows the excerpt in the article, below the title and above the image.
  • Introductory Content: This is where the main content resides.
  • Related To This Story: This is only available on the main News site. It allows editors to add internal or external links that are related to the story. It appears between the Introductory Content and the Body Content.
  • Body Content: This is only available on the main News site. It allows editors to separate content from Introductory Content and Body Content by a "Related To This Story" section.
  • Twitter Moment: If your event has a Twitter Moment, include the ID here.
  • Related Articles: You may select up to three related articles that are featured at the bottom of the News Post.
  • Additional Links: This is only available on the main News site. It allows editors to provide extra links at the bottom of the News Post.
  • Tags: All News Posts require a global tag. This appears on the Content tab for the main News site, and on the Tags tab for all other sites.

Settings Tab

  • Hide Image on Post Page: If you would like to provide an image for a News Post to display on News Listings, but not to show in the News Post itself, check this box.
  • Hide from Other News & Events Listings: Check this box if you would like this event to appear within the current site, but not on other sites (like Ivey's main News and Event site).
