Each year the Ian O. Ihnatowycz Institute for Leadership organizes an annual HBA student integrative leadership event. This event could be a student-driven conference, guest speakers on the topic of leadership, or unique leadership activities that push the boundaries of a traditional leadership experience. This year the event will take place on December 10 when The Honourable Bob Rae and Tanya Kappo will speak on the Idle No More movement and leadership. The students will discuss the "Canada's Aboriginal People: Idle No More" case that was written specifically for this event.

Tanya Kappo is a citizen of the Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation, located within Treaty 8 territory. She graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Manitoba in 2012. Tanya was actively involved in the Idle No More Movement in its very early days. Presently, she is involved in the Walking With Our Sisters Exhibit as an organizer and planner for the exhibit’s opening in Edmonton and as a member of the  National Collective, for the Exhibit overall. Tanya is also an articling student and a mother of three children.
