Why did you decide to return to Ivey to do your MBA?

I returned to Ivey to complete my MBA in order to refine my skills, expand my network, and advance my career. During my HBA, I built a strong business foundation, but my career path has since evolved. Initially focused on marketing in Telecom, I transitioned into finance within the health technology sector. My most recent role prior to my MBA involved managing the capital investment portfolio for Canada’s largest health IT company.

The Ivey MBA is critical to my future career for three reasons. First, its advanced finance courses will strengthen my investment evaluation and decision-making skills, enhancing my ability to optimize financial returns. Second, the program offers opportunities to develop as a leader, an essential next step as I aim to lead larger teams. Finally, the MBA will expand my network through exposure to a diverse cohort of professionals, helping me connect with like-minded individuals committed to transforming industries.

Returning to Ivey also offers the chance to collaborate with driven classmates and explore new perspectives, aligning perfectly with my goal of leading impactful change in the health sector across Canada.

What is the most significant or surprising difference you've experienced in your MBA journey from your HBA journey?

The biggest difference has been learning from such a diverse cohort of leaders, sharing real world stories and lessons. Everyone brings unique experiences from different industries and countries, with their own goals and ambitions. This makes for incredible conversations and opens your mind to new ideas, giving you fresh perspectives on everything from career paths to problem-solving.

With a few years of real-world experience under your belt, you also feel more confident in what you're looking to get out of the program. It’s easier to focus on your own path without the pressure of comparing yourself to others. Since everyone is heading in different directions, the environment feels very supportive, encouraging you to explore your niche and discover what truly excites you.
