A new blog from the Ivey International Centre for Health Innovation calls on Canada to facilitate healthy eating.
Emma Pearson, former Summer Research Analyst at the Health Centre, points out that the rate of obesity and chronic disease in Canada is only getting worse. She offers a few potential solutions, including instilling healthy habits in children with healthy eating programs in schools.
“Canada is the only G8 country that doesn’t have a national school food program,” she writes. “A national food program would ensure children from families unable to afford sufficient healthy food, but also children whose parents do not pack their child a healthy lunch… receive healthy food each day at school.”
