Professor Glenn Rowe spoke to the Financial Post about how the position of CFO is changing to more of a role of strategic leadership.
“In the ideal scenario, both the CFO and the CEO are strategic leaders,” said Rowe. “In the past there was a perspective the CFO’s job was to look after the financing for whatever the CEO and board wanted to do. I think as we work through what it is a firm needs to do to succeed today it’s important for the CFO to understand the long- and short-term consequences of their recommendations. Really good CFOs work closely with the CEO.”
