Luxury department store Nordstrom, which is praised for its top customer service in the U.S. retail industry, is slowly making its way to Canada. Nordstrom opened its first store in Calgary last September and plans to roll out six stores in Canada in three years.
Associate Professor Kersi Antia spoke to Canadian Business about Nordstrom’s gradual entrance into Canada.
“They’re taking time to get to know the market, and they’re being careful to manage expectations,” he said.
Antia said Nordstrom is making a smart move with its cautious Canadian expansion, which is essentially “doing the un-Target.”
