The Globe and Mail featured the Ben Graham Centre’s International Stock Picking Competition, an annual event organized by Ivey Professor George Athanassakos.
The contest involved 25 teams of MBA students from international business schools. They submitted reports on a company of their choice. Only three teams made it to the finals held in Toronto where they were then asked to analyze Winnipeg-based agricultural equipment manufacturer Buhler Industries in a competition for $17, 500 in cash prizes.
The competition offered MBA students a unique opportunity to evaluate Buhler Industries as a potential investment and showed them the advantages of value investing. This year’s finalists came from the Ivey Business School, the Haas School of Business, and the Kellogg School of Management.
