High-end France-based champagne brand Veuve Clicquot launched its new champagne, Rich, in Canada this week. Rich is unique in that it is made specifically for mixing with particular ingredients like tea leaves, peppers, cucumbers or pineapple.
Ken Hardy, Professor Emeritus of Marketing, shared his views with The Toronto Star on the bubbly brand’s new product venture.
“I think it’s very clever. It’s deliberately breaking the normal rules around champagne,” said Hardy. “If it doesn’t catch on, it won’t hurt the brand. It’s pretty much risk-free for them.”
