Canadian Business’s series on Waterloo, Ont. startups featured Mallorie Brodie, HBA ’13, who co-founded BridgIt, a mobile and web-based application that seeks to make large-scale construction projects run more smoothly.
Brodie discussed her entrepreneurial experience and the efforts that went into the implementation and development of her first startup. She and her co-founder Lauren Hasegawa, a Western Engineering graduate, got their business off the ground at The Next 36, a business accelerator program that provides initial capital and mentorship.
“It gave you a more structured approach than if you were just trying something on your own,” said Brodie. “It was nice to be part of a program that helped guide us along for the first few months.”
