Kersi Antia | As online shopping picks up, delivery times shorten

Online shopping retail giant, Amazon, is experimenting with a one-hour home delivery service in the U.S. And Shoes.com recently launched a similar service in Canada, offering two-hour delivery service for a surcharge on select footwear products purchased on its Canadian site, shoeme.ca, as late as 4 p.m.

As more and more consumers turn to online shopping, companies are fighting to differentiate their offerings from competitors.

Associate Professor Kersi Antia spoke with The Canadian Press about the struggle online retailers face to rise above their competitors.  The piece landed in many media outlets, including Canadian Business, CTV.ca, and the Toronto Star.

“One of the big ways that companies try to [differentiate themselves] is to do so on the basis of a) convenience or b) speed — or preferably both if they can with respect to delivery,” said Antia.
