You have the work experience required to apply to business school, but does that mean you’re ready for an MBA? Sharon Irwin-Foulon, Executive Director of Career Management and Corporate Recruiting at Ivey, says it’s a decision you shouldn’t rush.
In her second blog in a series for The Huffington Post, Irwin-Foulon encourages applicants to ask the question “Does it make sense for me to get this degree right now?” She suggests considering the following three things:
- The admissions team can help
- Quality over quantity
- Failure is good for success
“Assuming that the requisite two years of work experience is enough to get you into the MBA program is a sign that you may not be thinking about this investment of time and money in a critical way,” said Irwin-Foulon. “Instead you might be merely seeing it as a credential.”
