All eyes are trained on the United States as Donald Trump takes the oath of office and two-term president Barack Obama leaves public life. The world has been watching and interpreting signals as to how the new administration will tackle major global issues.

One issue which is sure to take centre stage is climate change.

In its Science Weekly podcast, Britain's The Guardian takes a deep dive into the complexities of this topic. Professor Tima Bansal is prominently featured arguing corporations need to eliminate short-term thinking and take a leadership role on tackling global climate concerns.

"Without speaking to Trump specifically, from a corporate perspective they want certainty, and the more certainty they have the more likely that they will make the investments that are needed to deal with these big world issues," said Bansal.

Bansal's commentary on The Guardian podcast is split into two sections running from 10:35 - 16:32 and 32:39 - 33:24.
