Recent pipeline project approvals may be a sign that Canada is losing ground on its promise to reduce carbon emissions by 2030, says Ivey’s Dennis McConaghy.
In his article in Maclean’s, McConaghy said the Canadian government’s commitment to carbon reduction is becoming increasingly untenable.
“No significant interventions have been publicly contemplated, let alone implemented, in Canada’s basic energy systems that would accelerate emissions reductions,” he said. “The federal government should provide some rationalization of its various decisions, policy intentions and external realities for Canadians.”
