U.S. President Donald Trump wants to quickly renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), but the implications of his actions remain unclear. Assistant Professor Isaac Holloway said Trump’s renegotiation may provide an opportunity to improve NAFTA.
In Yahoo! Finance Canada, Holloway discussed improvements that could be made to NAFTA during the renegotiation, but also noted the risks. Among changes that could be made: updates to the list of occupations eligible for temporary professional visas; and, opening up Canada's dairy industry.
“The worst-case outcome would be a failure to reach agreement and dissolution. This would be devastating to Mexico,” he said.
