Darryl White, HBA ’94, has been named Bank of Montreal’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). He will replace current CEO Bill Downe when he retires in October.
Formerly the Chief Operating Officer, White has worked at BMO for 22 years. He’s held a variety of senior management positions since joining in 1994, including overseeing investment and corporate banking, head of equity capital markets and CEO of the BMO Nesbitt Burns unit.
“I’ve really worked in just about every area of the bank, I’ve served on the executive committee for a long time,” says White. “I feel really comfortable and really confident because I know our people.”
Bank of Montreal is Canada’s oldest lender, celebrating its 200th anniversary this year.
Two of the Big Five Banks are now run by Ivey alumni. White joins David McKay, MBA ’92, CEO of Royal Bank of Canada.
