Laurence Applebaum, HBA ’94, is trading in tennis rackets for golf clubs.
The Ivey grad was named the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Golf Canada this week. He’ll leave behind his previous role as Executive Vice President of the Florida-based Women’s Tennis Association (WTA).
Taking the reins at Golf Canada gives him the opportunity to return home to Canada and make some major changes to the organization.
“Golf Canada as an organization hasn’t been able to resonate as loudly as I think there’s an opportunity to,” Applebaum says. “What two better things do you get in a role than golf and Canada? The chance to come home, the chance to be part of golf, the chance to affect change, to make an impact, to affect all levels of the game, is really exciting.”
