Columnist Norman Rothery profiled this year's Ivey Value Investing Competition in a feature piece for The Globe and Mail.
Twenty-seven teams from around the world vied for a coveted spot to present their analysis and findings in front of a notable panel of value investors. The four finalists were given only one-week to prepare their recommendations on a particular value stock.
"Three of the teams decided to take a pass on the stock and cited different areas of concern," said Rothery. "For instance, they were worried about increased competition and the selling pressure from large shareholders after the firm’s initial public offering in 2014."
In a narrow victory, the team from Saint Mary’s took home the top prize of $10,000.
