LONDON, ON, March 4th, 2013 - Faculty members from the Richard Ivey School of Business have been awarded the top honours in three of fourteen categories in this year’s European Foundation of Management Development (EFMD) case writing competition. Ivey authored cases won in more categories than any other business school in the world.
In the category of Latin American Business Cases, Ivey’s Oana Branzei won with Kim Poldner for the case “Veja: Sneakers With a Conscience.” Branzei also won in the category of Indian Management Issues and Opportunities with Satyajeet Subramanian and Charles Dhanaraj for “Bayer CropScience in India (A): Against Child Labor.” Ivey professor Paul W. Beamish alongside Bassam Farah won in the category of MENA Business Cases for “Chabros International Group: A World of Wood.”
Over and above the categories won by Ivey faculty members, three additional cases registered with the Ivey Publishing collection also took top prizes. These include “Launch of Durra: Women in Islamic Banking” by Alexandra Roth and David T.A. Wesley in the Euro-Mediterranean Managerial Practices and Issues category. “Danfoss - Global Manufacturing Footprint” by Torben Pedersen, Jacob Pyndt for Supply Chain Management, and finally “Novo Nordisk: Managing Sustainability at Home and Abroad” authored by Jette Steen Knudsen and Dana Brown in the category of Corporate Social Responsibility.
Additional cases distributed through Ivey Publishing were also selected as runner-ups and will receive Highly Commended mentions from the judges because of their outstanding quality in three categories: Indian Management Issues and Opportunities, Family Business and African Business Cases.
“We are pleased to see so many Ivey-registered cases recognized by EFMD,” said Matt Quin, Director of Ivey Publishing. “As the second largest case distributor in the world, Ivey takes great pride in producing high quality cases which aim to be current, meeting the demands of business educators.”
