Entering a video contest may get you a moment in the spotlight, or even a spot on Canada’s next reality television show. But for one young Canadian entrepreneur, it has helped him take his business to the next level.
Ivey and KPMG’s QuantumShift™ program held the first ever FutureShifters Video Contest, inviting aspiring Canadian entrepreneurs to create videos about their businesses with the winner getting an invite to the program.

Braden Douglas is this year’s FutureShifter, thanks to a compelling video submission and a strong social media push from his supporters. Douglas is founder and Principal of Relevention Marketing Inc., a fast-growing marketing firm in Abbotsford, British Columbia.
“Braden is a terrific FutureShifter and we are delighted that the public voted him the top pick,” said Paul Woolford, Tax Partner at KPMG Enterprise.
“I am confident he will fit with the other 40 QuantumShifters this May at Ivey and, in my discussions with him, he is very much looking forward to the opportunity and experience.”
Relevention Marketing is a small agency that works with small-medium sized enterprises to serve as their ‘in-house marketing department.’ In his video submission, Douglas explained that his firm has only tapped one per cent of its potential market and that the QuantumShift™ program is an opportunity for him to learn how to effectively and successfully expand in Canada.
Quantum Shift is geared towards CEOs with past start-up enterprises that are looking to step back into the classroom for a rigorous five-day development program and to meet with other leaders in similar positions. The FutureShifters video contest allowed entrepreneurs with smaller and less-established businesses an opportunity to vie for a seat in the QuantumShift™ classroom.
Of all video submissions, three finalists were selected by the QuantumShift™ executive team from Ivey and KMPG Enterprises. The race was close between Douglas’s 450 votes, and runner-up, Jack Lee of Tremor Treatment who reeled in 421 votes. Mike Sorrenti of Game Pill was the third finalist.
QuantumShift™ 2014 will be held May 4 - 9, 2014 at Ivey Spencer Leadership Centre in London, Ontario.
