In March, Western selected Ivey Professors Rob Klassen and Simon Parker among 13 Faculty Scholars in recognition of their achievements in teaching or research. The recipients will hold the title of Faculty Scholar for two years and receive $7,000 each year towards scholarly activities.
Rob Klassen
Professor Rob Klassen holds the Magna International Inc. Chair in Business Administration. His research interests focus on exploring the linkages between operations and the natural environment, including international operations. His research has been published in Management Science, Journal of Operations Management, Academy of Management Journal, and Decision Sciences, among several others. In 2013, Klassen was given the Operations Management Distinguished Scholar Award by the Academy of Management (Operations Management division).
Simon Parker
Professor Simon Parker is the Director of the Entrepreneurship Cross-Enterprise Centre. He has published over 70 peer-reviewed articles in economics, entrepreneurship and management journals, and is the author of The Economics of Entrepreneurship (Cambridge University Press, 2009). Lately, Parker’s cases on entrepreneurship have a particular focus on the challenges and strategies associated with Internet-based start-ups, including their use of social media. He is also Co-Director of the upcoming 2014 Babson College Entrepreneurship Research Conference hosted here at Ivey.
