Established in 2005, the DUP acknowledges sustained excellence in scholarship over a substantial career at Western. Crossan was cited for being a “complete scholar,” a leader at Ivey, and for her contributions to organizational learning, strategy, leadership character, and improvisation, both within and outside her field.
“Her contributions are greatly valued by the academic community,” said Ivey Dean Bob Kennedy.
The award entitles Crossan to use the honorary title of Distinguished University Professor for the duration of her academic appointment at Western, followed by Distinguished University Professor Emerita upon her retirement. It also includes a $10,000 research grant to support scholarly activities. She is the first Ivey faculty member to receive the award.
