Bryan Gilvesy, HBA ’81, one of the most highly-regarded farm and food innovators in Canada, has been named Executive-in-Residence of Agriculture and Sustainability at Ivey’s Centre for Building Sustainable Value.
During his two-year appointment, Gilvesy will serve as a guest lecturer in the classroom, write various papers and cases, be involved in community outreach initiatives, and participate in panels and conferences.
Gilvesy, owner of the award-winning Y U Ranch, also serves as the CEO of ALUS Canada, a national non-for-profit that is a community led, farmer delivered ecosystem service organization that features the New Acre Project as an environmental offsetting vehicle for Canadian business. He has recently been named one of the 17 top Farmer Heroes for Sustainability across the globe, has been a recipient of the 2013 Premier’s Leadership Award for Agricultural Innovation, and a member of Canada’s “Clean 16.”

At Ivey, Gilvesy will work to advance policy discussion and promote positive intersection between agriculture and government. Advancement in the area of agricultural sustainability will provide various opportunities for growth within the Ivey community and maintain the School’s position as a public policy thought leader.
