Ivey communications lecturer and incoming Faculty Director of the HBA Program Mary Weil is among the winners for the 2015 EFMD Case Writing Competition.
Boldly Go: Character Drives Leadership at Providence Healthcare, written by Weil and Chitra P. Reddin from Communications Solutions, was awarded first place in the “Responsible Leadership” category.
The case focuses on the President and CEO of Providence Healthcare and her attempt to sustain positive change at the company. In her four years with Providence, she’s led it through massive change, turning the company from potential crisis to financial health. Now her challenge is to consider how to integrate her values-based leadership to sustain this positive change and win the support of key stakeholders. The case examines her success thus far and how it has depended on leader character.
EFMD has hosted this annual case writing competition for 30 years with the goal of encouraging and supporting the creation of innovative new case material. There are seventeen categories, each focusing on a specific issue around the world.
