On November 5, four Ivey MBA students won first place at a case competition organized by Paytm and held at the Rotman School of Management.
Winning students Akshath Goyal, Izaak Trotter-Ries, Souvonik De, and Manuel Cerrutti competed against 24 other MBA teams from schools across Canada, including Rotman, Schulich School of Business, Desautels Faculty of Management, and DeGroote School of Business.
The competition challenged students to get creative and develop an in-depth strategy and implementation plan to increase the user base for Paytm Canada, a fintech and digital innovation company.
In the qualifying round, teams had one week to come up with two detailed plans to increase Paytm’s user base to a million. From there, eight teams advanced to the final round to present their recommendations to a panel of senior executives from Paytm.
The Ivey winning team’s proposal was based on a smart mobile ticketing app for transit.
