At a young age, HBA student Ayush Vaidya developed a passion for music. He tried his hand at rapping, but when that didn't work out he explored a different option: producing and selling beats. Soon, Beatcamp was born.
Beatcamp is a marketplace website for beats that connects recording artists with music producers. With a catalogue of thousands of beats, Beatcamp allows artists to browse, license, and download beats that they can turn around and use in their own songs.
Vaidya, together with his team members Pei Li and Richard Yang, competed in the inaugural Spin Master Ivey HBA Business Plan Competition on January 20-21, 2017 and won the second place prize of $4,000.
Beatcamp has been a lot of work for the team so far, but Vaidya acknowledges it's what he signed up for.
"You have a set amount of time in your day and you have to prioritize what is important to you," he said. "If you really want to pursue your business, you have to put the time.”
