Life is full of infinite possibilities, and students should be asking themselves, "What’s next?"

That’s the challenge and the "sublime adventure" that Anita Gaffney Misener, EMBA '02, LLD, Executive Director of the Stratford Festival, brought to graduating students in her Convocation address at Western University's 314th Convocation on October 25.

Misener was awarded the honorary Doctor of Laws, honoris causa (LLD) at the Faculties of Arts and Humanities and Social Science graduation ceremony. Ivey's former dean Carol Stephenson, OC, read the citation, recognizing Misener’s many accomplishments at the Festival.

As Executive Director, Misener is the chief administrator for Canada’s largest arts organization, and North America’s largest not-for-profit theatre.

"You’re all just starting to draft your own case studies. The technical skills you have amassed at Western will serve you well," Misener said. "You’ve learned to write, to think critically, to synthesize complex ideas, to be curious, to be empathetic and much more. Those tools will be important to you as you step out on your own paths to an unforeseeable future."
