As the COVID-19 pandemic forces firms to be nimble and rethink global supply chain models, the need for new research on operations management has never been greater.
That’s why Ivey Professor Rob Klassen, MBA ’89, is excited about his appointment as an Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Operations & Production Management (IJOPM). He said it is a great opportunity to continue shaping the field of operations and supply chain management.
“Recently, supply chains have attracted much attention as managers have been forced to reconfigure to become more agile and resilient. And operations have had to scale up or adapt to meet quickly shifting market demands and public policy needs. In short, managers are facing critical challenges to economic and social sustainability,” he said. “Not coincidentally, these topics have been central to IJOPM’s research focus for many years. I hope that I can expand this important discourse by further strengthening linkages to management practice, supporting rigorous empirical methods, and encouraging innovative impactful research.”
