For the 624 new students who make up the HBA Class of 2022, today is a milestone moment.
Not only are they transitioning into their first year of the HBA Program and beginning their Ivey journey, they are doing so in the middle of a global pandemic. The program will be delivered in mixed-mode with virtual classes and some in-person sessions.
Ivey’s faculty, staff, and HBA2 student volunteers have been working hard to ensure the experience is as transformational as it has been for previous classes. In addition to creating a high-quality online program that rivals what they’d have in the classroom, there will be some fun, mixed-mode activities.
The program kicked off today with a virtual event called the HBA O-Week Gala, where they met their classmates and sections and heard some advice from Nicole Verkindt, HBA ’07, CEO and Founder of OMX and former Dragon on CBC’s Next Gen Den, who was the keynote speaker.
O-Week begins
During the next few days, they’ll also participate in mixed-mode activities for O-Week, running through September 7. Activities include training on safety protocols, meeting learning teams and student leaders, introductions to program and Western support services, and an outdoor Ivey Olympics event where masks will be worn and physical distancing will be practised. There will also be the option for those who are not in London or do not feel comfortable participating in person to experience O-Week virtually.
We’re so excited to meet our new HBA1 students. Below is a look at the class by the numbers.
