It took hard work, perseverance, and resilience – but they did it. And this week, Ivey will be celebrating 1,034 graduates across six programs for their exceptional accomplishments as they are recognized at one of several Western University spring convocation ceremonies. It will be a particularly special event for some participants who graduated from high school at the height of pandemic-era restrictions and missed out on in-person graduation ceremonies. Here’s a look at what’s planned.
Graduate programs ceremony, Alumni Hall (Wednesday, June 19, 10 a.m.) – This group includes 146 MBA, 185 MSc, 58 EMBA, 53 AMBA, and two PhD graduates who will receive their diplomas at the ceremony at Western University’s Alumni Hall. They’ll be joined by John Barford, a Western graduate and president of Valleydene Corporation, who will receive an honorary Doctor of Laws at the event. HBA program ceremonies, Alumni Hall (Thursday, June 20, 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.) – This year, Ivey has 590 HBA graduates so there will be two ceremonies at Western University’s Alumni Hall: one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The morning group will hear an address from Kyle MacDonald, HBA ’82, after she receives an honorary Doctor of Laws. MacDonald is best known for founding Phoenix Interactive Design Inc., a pioneering banking software company, and has received additional awards for philanthropic efforts supporting education, veterans, and health care. The Ivey Pledge tradition
After each ceremony, the graduates will return to the Richard Ivey Building for the Ivey Pledge Ceremony where they’ll receive the Ivey Ring.
