The Ivey Global Lab (IGL) is a signature experience in the MSc in Management: International Business, allowing students to immerse themselves in new cultures, tackle complex business challenges, and embrace the unexpected through a summer internship with an international organization.

For the most recent IGL participants, the impact of their journey extended beyond their internships as they were celebrated at the inaugural Ivey Global Lab Awards event, held at Ivey on January 20. The event, which brought together both incoming and outgoing MSc cohorts, recognized the students' hard work, adaptability, leadership, and teamwork throughout the program while allowing both groups to learn from one another.

“These awards highlight the heart of what the IGL experience is all about – making real positive impact, leading high-performing teams, and building strong, inclusive relationships,” said Lynn Imai, an Assistant Professor of Organizational Behaviour who delivers IGL along with Christopher Clark, HBA ’96, founder and CEO of Terraficionados, Amy Brans, Director of Operations and Special Projects of Terraficionados, and Ravi Raj, co-founder and CEO of Authentica.

It’s a sentiment that MSc student Mahmoud Maatouk echoed in his speech at the event. Maatouk was part of the team of students that won the Client Impact Award for their work with Promart Home Centre in Lima, Peru.

“We were pushed to be the best version of ourselves and, as a result, we grew stronger as a team and as individuals,” he said. “The end product was greatly fulfilling – seeing our hard work have a positive impact on the business we invested our time with. After all, many of us pursue business to witness our ideas translated into tangible results, creating lasting changes to the community at large.”
