An Ivey HBA student is planning to swim across a portion of Lake Ontario this summer to raise money to help Syrian refugee families come to Canada.
Victor Lal, HBA '19 candidate, sat down for a video interview with the Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion (CCDI) to discuss his upcoming plans. He estimates the 52-kilometre swim, starting in Niagara-on-the-Lake and ending in Toronto, will take somewhere between 20-24 hours.
Last summer, Lal completed a 24-day bike ride, from Toronto to St. John's, Newfoundland, to raise $30,000 to help bring a family from Aleppo, Syria to Canada.
Lal is the founder of an organization called Canadians for Syria. He hopes to raise money to help as many Syrian families come to Canada as possible.
