Goodbye Mombasa!

Today was a bitter-sweet experience. Team Mombasa concluded our course with a graduation ceremony for students. During the ceremony, we had the opportunity to hear feedback, both positive and constructive, about their experience. Faculty from JKUAT Mombasa addressed the students, and Director (Dr.) Fred Mugambe delivered an impassioned speech emphasizing empowerment through education and highlighted the value that the development of case-based learning could provide. As we said our good-byes after the ceremony, I believe that I can speak on behalf of the team in saying that we were overcome with a sense of gratitude for the university and all those who welcomed us with open arms as well as pride for the unparalleled learning and progress that has been made by JKUAT and Ivey students alike. I know that the end of our time in Mombasa is only just the beginning in many ways; for the university, the relationship between Ivey and JKUAT will strengthen, and for the students, the introspection and reflection that is just beginning will contribute immeasurably to our learning and development from this experience. It is very difficult to articulate the experience that we have had in saying our goodbyes, but Team Mombasa would like to communicate our gratitude to all at JKUAT and Ivey for facilitate and supporting this experience. We can’t wait to share our stories with the community upon our return to Canada.
